Default Brakes

afternoon folks, noob with a brake question, just purchased a rather nice CBR1000F (H) model, on a D plate, no, callipers fitted, front or rear, so, my question is, what models fit what re brakes? what can i put on there? the bike itself is in excellent condition, 38k, hardly a scratch on it, but with no brakes im going nowhere, seen some on that auction site, but, unsure if they will fit, so any help would be muchly precciated, thanks,

Did you ask the previous owner why there were no brake calipers on your bike? Seems rather strange to me to not have brakes when you sell a bike. Are the discs running true? Check them with a dial gauge before looking for calipers as you may need new disc as well. Try the your local bike breaker for the calipers once you are sure the discs are ok. They are usually knowledgeable guys and will provide you with the correct ones for your year and model. Hope you get on the rode soon!

previous owner,,took the callipers off, to service them then shed his mortal coil, sadly, new ones are needed, discs are true, callipers are present, but too many parts missing, so, replacements needed, i understand a VFR 750 F rear calliper is a bolt on fit,, is it the same for the front?

no idea whether or not viffers fit, but just do a ebay search for your model year or model - i'm sure you'll find some that fit.

you can use OEM part sites (like bikebandit) to check part numbers against each other just to be extra sure. if you have different model years of parts, but they have the same part number (sku#), then they'll fit.

kind of hard to help you out more with you not stating the year hurricane it is. just search ebay, i'm sure there are plenty on there

CBR1000F (H) would make it about 1988/89

That means it is before the linked braking system was introduced.

The front brakes are quite cheap in the UK - CBR 1000 CBR1000F Front Brake Calliper Calipers Complete with lever & reservoir | eBay

Even good condition FL calipers could be used HONDA CBR1000 CBR 1000 FL CBR1000F 1990 FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS *FREE UK POSTAGE* | eBay

Yeah Joe,

I concur with the guys above. Best bet is to source original callipers and bolt them straight on. (after cleaning them up and perhaps putting a set of rubbers through them)

Good luck with your search.

Cheers, SB
