Default Brake light not engaging when I hit either lever.

I'm new to bikes so if anyone has had this problem or know of someone who has

please chime in with some diagnosis and how-to fix it advice, it'd be much

appreciated. Thanks forum!

First step, check the bulb/s.

Is it just one brake lever or when you hit either?

I had the problem with my 96 900RR, but only when I would grab the front brake lever, foot brake still activated the brake light. Like Ern said, check the bulbs first. My problem was the switch on the front hand brake went bad, simple change, really. Just one screw and unplug it.

don't forget to check the fuse as well as the bulb. the fuse may be tied in with the turn signals, see if they work.

It will have a spring(like on a trampoline but smaller.. MUCH smaller) and an adjusting "screw/nut" but the screw/nut is plastic. Adjust the nut, meaning turn only the nut, not the whole assembly...

Thanks for all the help and support. I just got home and will check the fuse and bulbs. The running lights work but no brake light activation while using hand and foot lever. I'll report back with my findings, thanks again forum.

@ Trey929RR, Will the nut adjust how hard you need to press down on the foot brake to activate the brake light?

Update: Alright forum, it's not my fuse or bulb, I check both and all is good. The foot brake will activate the brake light but only if I press

down really hard (stand on it and I'm 140lbs). So the foot brake does work after all but needs some adjustment, it is sill the front brake

lever that isn't activating the brake light. I will assume now it's the replacement of the activation switch that'll correct my problem. I

think this case is solved and can now be closed with thanks to all of you how helped. Thanks forum for the info and insight, now all I need

is a how-to on replacing the switch.
