Default bike wont start please help!!!!!

I just bought a 2003 f4i. It ran awesome when I picked it up everything was tip top. Then I did something really stupid. Well the guy I bought it from crimped a wire to the negative on the battery with a red crimper so I seen the red and automatically assumed it was the positive. As soon as I noticed the tender was pulling volts instead of issuing I pulled it off so maybe five seconds. Anyway. Long story short it ran fine before I put the charger on it. Now it wont do anything. The starter works lights all that. I can here the fuel pump turn on but there is no combustion at all in the motor, and ideas on what I can do? Is it a quick fix or an expensive one? I just hope I haven't toasted the ecu ecm . I have a friend thats going to bring his over and swap ecus to see, but until then anything else I can do or try?

Check all fuses, including the one attached to the starter relay,
(generally under the seat).
Look for any damaged wiring, including connectors.

Hope it's just a blown fuse, Ern

No combustion? So it turns over but doesn't start? If it turns over, the main fuse is still good. As ern said, check ALL your fuses. Never done this myself, but this might have fried the R/R?

Thanks alot. I checked all fuses, they are all good under the seat. Also the two relays under the rear faring one makes a clicking noise which I believe is for the fuel pump? The other one is silent. Im very new to any of this. Whats an rr? And any other thoughts? I live in Illinois is going to be nice very soon itching to ride but dont want to pay to take it to a repair shop:/

Also there is no true pressure coming out of the exhaust but a very small amount of fumes.

r/r is the regulator/rectifier. Hopefully you didn't fry it, though it is a possibility.

If you'd like to check in that direction, here's a few good links...

Hope this helps, Ern
