I think he said it cranked after the temp problem, but didn't catch, right? cbrnoob, does it crank?

I'd inspect the coolant and oil for any cross contamination. If starting fluid (make sure it has an upper lube in it) didn't make it fire and rev for a second or two, then I would definitely change the plugs. Inspect the plugs, I think white or brown desposits may mean they are 'coolant fouled' (if that is a term), if so maybe when it got real hot you created a head warp or gasket problem. Maybe do a compression test (or leakdown test if you can) when the plugs are out to see if something horrible did happen, compression tests are easy but may not tell you anything. Also check the coolant system to see if it holds pressure and that there isn't a leak somewhere like the head.

I hope it is something besides something horrible. Good luck, keep us posted.

Im hoping your guage was mis-reading. If it was at that temp, it should have boiled over. Just topping off the coolant in the reservior bottle shouldnt need to be purged. If you drained your old coolant and put in new, then yes, it should be purged, but not just from topping it off.

Try this, Get on your bike, put it insecond gear, pull in the clutch, get a slowrunning start with the bike and pop the clutch. If your engine turns over, the rear wheel spin. If your engine islocked up, your rear wheel will lock up as well, so be ready for it if it does happen. If it does spin, do it again with the key on andwith a faster run and the bike should fire up.

If the rear wheel locks up, that doesnt mean 100 percent your engine is too. It could be a stuck starter, a problem in the transmission,....ect

Default Bike wont start

I am having a problem with my bike. 2001 honda 929. When you try to start it there is a clicking noise. I have already changed out the stator and electrical box. I have placed the battery on a charger but I am worried I was screwed when I had the stator replaced. Any help or suggestions?

Seems to me i have heard something about oil pressure and lvl effected to this sort of problem. (not starting)

Check those too and it might not hurt to fully replace oil due to the temp it recieved.

@ kike: is that Dr. House standing by your bike?
