Default bike wont start

back in december a then new member going by bigD posted with questins about a 93 f2 that wouldnt start. i am also a new member with the same bike, purchased under very simular circumstances; bike was thrown away doing 100+ sat in a guy's garage for years, i picked it up for 500 bucks. i'm having the same problems he did, bike will fire if i pour gas down the carbs, but wont run otherwise. i pulled the bowls off the carbs and cleaned everything i could. when i pull the plugs, they are wet with fuel and have good spark, what gives? yo, bigD did you ever get your bike to start? would apreciate any help, thanx.

Possibilities are:

Fuel is not getting from the tank to the carbs.
Weak spark
Fouling of the plugs. I'm concerned that you said the spark plugs are wet. They should not be wet to the point of fouling and not firing.
Bad pepcock on the tank.
Cracked or bad fuel line.

It could be a number of things.

I would remove the tank and ensure that fuel flows through the fuel line ok.
Replace all the rubber fuel lines.
Check the coils for proper operation (using an ohm meter if you have one).
Check the gap on the plugs.

If all fails, truck it down to the Honda shop. It may be something stupid causing it not to run.

i have had the tank off several times. it,s definately getting plenty of fuel to the carbs, maybe too much. when i cleaned the carbs i made sure the jets were clear, but neglected to check the float valves. perhaps they are hanging open, flooding the bike. i do have an ohm meter, what range of resistance is acceptable? thanks for the info.
