bike is ticking and wont start!
drove my bike a couple hundred miles for the first time of the year (just bought the bike but ran gr eat when i bought it).
i was driving down the road flooring it, downshifted to 4th and kept it floored. trying to catch up at my friend at 65+mph. it started to sputter and almost act like it was out of gas. it started sputtering then died.
we stopped and looked at my fuel and it looked like there was none in there! however i put it on reserve (up position i think?) and i tried starting it. it sounded like a pretty loud ticking coming from the engine. it sounds like the valves to me like they are screwed but why would it act like its running out of gas then just die and not want to start back up with a loud ticking noise? did i just bend a valve?
the bike does have 42k on it though so it doesnt suprise me that this had to happen!

Ok, so you were 'flooring' it, so I assume near redline and you downshifted? If so than ya you probably just grenaded the mill.
No dude. A honda with 42k on it is not a accident waiting to happen. Abusing a 20 year old engine will.

What he's saying is you more than likely blew the motor. Ok saying that was you close to the redline when you down shifted? If you over reved the motor then yes you might have major damage to the motor. If you wasn't you might have some damage but it could be repairable I.e. a messes up vavle or something along those lines. How good are you as far as working in things? If your ok then you might be able to fix it as long as the case is good or you could buy a motor the possablitys are vast.
Side note what kind if ticking are we talking about here? Dose it sound like a hammer hitting your block or dose it sound like keys taping a glass window? And where dose it sound like its comeing from? Sorry for the two posts but I forgot to ask and my phone won't let me edit
