2006 CBR 600rr, 5300 miles.
I have not riden in about 2 months when I started my bike yesterday (Saturday). I warmed it up, and went out of my driveway, about 1/4 mile down the road, the engine cut off and the oil light as well as the digital oil symbol came on. I tried to start it again, and it stayed on for about 2 secs. After a20 min push home, I went by the local honda shop, and they said check the oil and addmore - which is mosre than likelythe problem. I got home andput the bike up on front and rear stands, and checked theoil, and it is full.
What could be the problem?? I am not due for another service for about 500 miles, and the bike is in perfect shape with zerodamage done to it in its lifetime. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I would guess maybe out of gas? some odd electical issue?
I wouldn't worry too much about the oil light.. it probably just came as your engine died. The light come on automatically when the engine is shut off due to know oil pressure. It came on before the engine died... then I would worry.

I agree with justasquid on the oil light. It is common for the oil light to come on after the engine has shut off with the ignition switch in the on position. About the bike dying, check to see if it is getting fuel. If there is fuel, check the battery voltage. Im leaning towards low battery because of the bike sitting for a long time.
