Default Bent crankarm or flywheel?

I went down on my bike and broke the stator cover. Ireplaced the stator and cover, but the engine still won’t turn, I suspect that the flywheel or crank may be bent. Is this a possibility? Also the race wherethe bolt connects the stator cover to the engine is chipped. Do you think Icould JB weld it?

I was originally going to sell or trade the bike.. but now I’mconsidering fixing it myself although its getting harder to find time. I havemechanical experience restoring cars, a garage and tools.. but not muchexperience with bikes.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

When you say it wont turn do you mean, when you hit the starter button it wont turn? Do you believe it wont turn because you think it is bent? Did you try to turn the engine with a big ratchet and socket on the end of the crank/timing cover side?, like you would do for a valve check/adjustment. (It'll be easier with the spark plugs out FYI)

When I hit the starter button you can feel the engine trying to turn.. but something is stopping it. My stator is rubbing inside the stator case at two points as well. I haven't tried turning it with the big ratchet. I'll look into it.

Is it common for a crankshaft or flywheel or stator case to bend in an accident?

Anything can get bent with an accident impact.

Easier way to turn the engine by hand is to put the bike on a rear stand, put it in 2nd or 3rd gear, and spin the rear wheel. Hopefully it turns over for you.

When you replaced gve stator, did the flywheel look bent in any places? They're definitely weaker than the crank, and on one if the engines I rebuilt, it rubbed on the stator and would get worse. It was really visible though, clearly from it being bent on impact from something, and it didn't lock the engine up.

Do what demon says, turn the engine by hand or put it in a higher gear and see if it'll turn via the rear wheel.

What size is the flywheel puller? I want to get the one the screws into the center.
