RE: Battery Problems?
Being that you stalled your bike so many times, you probably drained your new battery restarting the engine all those times. Get yourself a battery tender to charge the old and new batteries up. Don't know why you're having trouble getting the bike into first, you new to riding?

RE: Battery Problems?
if youve taken the MSF course youll know all about the "friction zone", place where the clutch just starts to grab.. best way to learn where that is, is put your bike in first and rock back onto your heels so the bike is moving backwards Slowly at the same rate. slowly releaseing the clutch while your doing that will give you a good feel for it. Once you can do that, just dont rock backwards anditshould make your take-offs much smoother

RE: Battery Problems?
Although these bikes are not known for their torque you can pull away almost from idle. It sounds like you never drove a car with a clutch either, the concept is similar and it is easier to learn in a car than a bike. Maybe find someone with a manual tranny in car and have them give you a short lesson.
