Default APE CCT install woes

I have tightened it as much as I can by hand, but when I start the bike there is stillLOUD cam chain rattle! I tried to get at the tightener bolt with a socket/ext/u-joint andthen awrench.... but couldnt fit! I guess I have to find a really small open ended wrench somewhere. damn. I did a search and it seems like a lot of people had trouble with the locking bolt, but never the adjustment bolt. Am I doing something wrong?

WhenI started the bike the first time this is what I did: tightened the bolt till it seemed snug, backed out a quarter turn, and pressed start. I shut off the bike fast after I heard the chain rattling. When I tried to adjust the tightener again I noticed it had gotten much tighter, and was difficult to loosen again.I'm thinking either I did something bad to the chain... oris the tensioner is just contacting a tighter part of the chain?

no dude...you start the bike first, then you tighten it until the sound is gone, back out...to make sure you hear it again...tighten it in until it just goes away, then give it 1/4 turn more. then adjust the lock nut. put some thread locker in there.

the only way for you to know approximately how much tension you need is for the bike to be on.
