anyone change bearings? FLORIDA
I am debating between it being the bearings or the caliper and i wanna change the bearings in the rear tire...how in the WORLD is this done and anyone in FLORIDA that would be so kind as to lend a hand??
Get yourself a Haynes repair manual and it should walk you right throught it. You will have to buy a long punch to drive those bearings out. When you get them out save them so you can get the part numbers off of them. If you do your wheel you should replace the bearing in your hub also while it is apart.
You have to get the rear tire off and take off the rotor and sprocket hub. The bearings are just pressed into the wheel along with the seals, same goes for the hub. Your best bet is to use a press to get them out but it can be done using a hammer and some sockets/extensions to punch them out. Putting them back in is the reverse operation. Just make sure that your socket is on the metal ring of the bearing and not the side casing when putting them back in or you will destroy the bearing.
