I made a post in 1991-1994 F2. but didnt get much of a response so i figured id try here. 3 days ago i rode my 1992 CBR 600 f2 about 60 miles or so because it had been the first warm day in a while. i then noticed at the end of that 60 miles, when i came to a stop, the bike was still idling fine, but sounded different, almost like my exhaust got louder. at the same time the bike lost almost all its power. so i parked it for the night, came back next morning and started it up with choke, started up fine, idling at 1200 rpm or so. (still making the different sound). i took it for a ride. still decreased power... the only thing i can think of is maybe a fouled spark plug, and perhaps im running on 3 out of 4 plugs or somethin, because like i said, it starts up fine, and will still run and drive, but with the chugging nasty sound and much decreased power. I called the dealership to price plugs and wires. and they wanted $200 for the wires and 40 for the spark plugs. i ordered the plugs from advanced auto today. im sure ill be fine with the same wires for the moment.
In conclusion, if anyone has any other ideas and or questions to help further diagnose the bike. please let me know. it had about a half tank of gas from 6 months ago and half tank of brand new 93. along with some seafoam. (that was another problem i thought it could be.)
Oh. also, I pulled the tank and air filter, and the carbs had very very little oil smudges along the top. im not sure if thats normal or what.. Im still relatively new to bikes and carbs. but i wiped it away and put the airbox back on til tomorrow when i get the plugs (what a pita to access those btw)
