Support the rafters with additional 2x4s and then use some good ratched straps accross them hooked to the frame to get the bike in the air.

Neatness counts and pays big dividends in handling later on.

Make sure fluid level is the same in both forks / torque all bolts to spec /
verify forks are up in the clamps identically.

are you just replacing a set of complete forks or rebuilding yours? if your just replacing the set its pretty easy there are somethings you need to keep an eye out for though
1) Make sure both forks are the same height in the triple clamp
2) tighten everything but the fork pinch bolts at the axle
3) Grab the front brake and compress the forks a few times to center the forks on the axle
4) Before you tighten the pinch bolts check the gap on both calipers between the disc and the caliper to make sure there not rubbing
