Default 600 rr shifting abnormality

The bike is an '08 600rr. About half the time the thing shifts thru the gears like a hot
knife thru a butterstick. Other times it shifts like I'm not using the clutch at all.
Neutral is usually easy to find. The clutch has been adjusted correctly accoding to the manual. Bike has 15,000 miles. I've owned it since new. Oil gets changed with GN 4 20w50 every 3000 miles. What could I be doing to make this thing so damn "balky" when shifting?
Seems worse lately. When it acts up, it does it on upshifts as well as downshifts.
Thanks in advance for any insight. Maybe shifting technique? I love the bike, but this is annoying when it happens.

Its hard to suggest anything. I hardly ever use my clutch to upshift, so the description is a bit vague. Is there anyway you can be more specific as to what the bike is doing?

Does it just shift hard?
Does it do it when the bike hot as well as when its cold?
Is it more prone to acting up if the rpms are higher?
Are you wearing boots sometimes and shoes at other times?
Are you putting pressure on the lever before you pull in the clutch?
Does it clunk or make any odd noises?

Without knowing more, I'd suspect its either your shifting habits, your shifting lever is out of adjustment, or you may have a clutch fork issue.

technique seems to not have any effect. the thing acts up at random. different shoes/boots
don't really affect it either. Shifter adjustment is something i havent looked into. Guess I better look up how to do that adjustment. Any suggestions on how?..
