Default 6 th gear

My cbr 600f 2000 is giving bother in 6th gear? It will take the gear no problem and stays in gear but when putting down the power it makes an awful rasping noise and feels like its going into a false neutral.
I've been advised that it will be cheaper to put a second hand engine in. This is where I need HELP!!! I can't get my hand on a 2000 carb engine but I can get a 2001 or 2003 injection engine. So will either of them fit?

Are you sure it's not your clutch slipping? 6th gear under acceleration would be putting the most force on the clutch...

That would be MUCH cheaper to replace than replacing the engine.

While I agree with conrice, to answer you question: while it is possible, its rather cost prohibitive because you would need to not only replace the engine but also many of the sensors need to be relocated or plugged. Where are you located if I may ask?

I lost second in my f2. While for most it is cheaper to swap engines, if you have the tools and mechanically ability, you can usually find a good deal on used parts. I bought my complete trans for 35 dollars. Looks and specs to Damn near new. Of course it is a pain to drop the engine and split the cases. But, other then that pretty simple.
The fuel injection you will, like previously stated, need a plethora of sensors and ecu and what not to keep the fi. As far as converting from fi to carb, thats a matter of research.

Don't know Conrice. I've never had a bike or ride a bike with a clutch problem before. It's the noise that it makes which makes me think gearbox. Does a clutch rattle when slipping?
