Default 2015 Honda ABS stand-alone operation?

Hi all, looking for some wisdom. I bought a 2014 CBR300 as a chassis no motor ECU wiring harness etc. I bought it to use the suspension on a XR500 street tracker/scrambler build. I saw the bike had ABS and thought it’d be really neat to be able to integrate that into the old bike. After looking at the wiring diagram I see two wires going to the ECU for the ABS module. I’m wondering if the ECU is needed to have functioning ABS or if I can just give the ABS model power and it will work independently of the ECU? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

probably the ecu is there to give the abs module a vehicle speed sensor signal. possibly other signals too, such as rpm, lean angle etc.

Not 100% sure of this, but in cars the engine ecu and the abs modules must communicate.
