Default 2012 CBR 250 Squeak?

Hey everyone. Im new to this forum and wanted to see if maybe i could get som information as to whats going on with my bike?
Some info
2012
CBR 250
1800 miles
Running 87 fuel

Symptom
When i down shift (everytime if i dont pre-rev before) my bike makes a kind of "Squeaking" noise. im not sure what it is, just something in the engine. Months ago (at like 600mi) i down shifted and it redlined, so i pulled to clutch in to lower the RPMs. After that i looked all over the bike, and inspected it for any damage (didnt find any). Ever since then it has always made that terrible noise when i down shift. It runs just fine and i dont have any other issues with it (other than the windshield vibrating annoyingly at 45mph+). Does anyone have any clue what this noise is? I would greatly appreciate some help, Thanks

Just FYI I am fairly certain you should be running 91 fuel, I think that's what my 250 manual said for mine.

As for the issue you're having...I don't know a whole lot about this but it sounds like it could be a syncro issue. Only reason I say that is because you're rev matching every other time and it doesn't happen so it's something that only occurs when your motor and transmission aren't sync'd up. Also, there are fixes for the windshield issue, look around on the cbr250 forum (google it).

The bikes under warranty, take it in and have the dealer look at it, it sounds like an issue they'd be able to recreate easily if they took it out.

Good luck, enjoy the bike!

I actually just switched to 93 for 1 tank but I'll check my manual to see what it recommends. And that's a pretty good point (take it to the dealer). I'll have to do that on my next day off. Thanks for the help!

93 is not a good idea either. Too high of an octane can rob the bike of performance. Just use the fuel the manual suggests which to my knowledge is 91.

Call them first to see if they can make an appointment, some dealers are PACKED this time of year.

Good luck, hope the issue can be resolved quickly.

I will check my owners manual once i get back home, and thats a very good point. The dealership that I go to is quite small, but then again, I don't know how busy they are. Thanks for the help everyone! Ride safely and enjoy the weather!
