2004 CBR1000RR Is this tick normal???
What would cause an intermitten loud tick?
My bike is a 2004 CBR1000RR, I bought it with 9,000 miles on it and it was extremely clean all stock. It now has 12,000 miles on it and I have noticed this (i think) louder than normal tick since I test rode the bike. Everyone tells me its normal but I had an 04 last year and don't remember it being that loud, It doesn't tick at all when could, it has what I consider to be a normal tick when warming up but after sitting in traffic and it gets around 190 degrees or after the first good romp thru the rpms for the day it will have a real noticeable loud tick above 4,000 rpms. I got use to riding an R1 for a few months and it was really quiet, maybe my other 04 was this noisey and just didnt notice it. But i swear once it starts the louder tick I can almost feel a slight vibration also, but of course I am usually around 7,000 rpms by then, so there again the vibration might be normal in the upper rpms as well.
I have had Honda listen and they said normal also, but it only seems to have this louder tick when riding, it I pull in the clutch the rpms drop and it goes away. It bugs the hell out of me and my confidence on the bike is shaken, I don't want it to come apart at 150 mph!!! I have ridden the bike for 3,000 miles and had it all the way to redline and up to 150 mph, it runs great, starts right up, idles fine and doesn't smoke. Any suggestions? or should I just turn the Ipod up and don't worry????
Thanks for any helpful input.
