Default 2003 cbr600rr won't start in gear? Help please, im desperate! ):

Hello(not new to forum, just using a new account hehe).
My 2003 cbr600rr was knocked over(hit and run T_T) while parked, and my kickstand was broken off clean(still dont have a kickstand..). So for a few days I left the bike on the side of the road just on its side, there was nothing I could do. I then made room in my friends backyard and brought the bike in. Now after letting the bike stand upright for a few days to let the fluids fall in place, I started my bike and she starts up(had some trouble at first..)

Now the bike runs and idles as it normally would, but once I put the bike into gear, the bike stalls. I've done my research online already before making my own thread, everyone tells me that it's the kickstand sensor. But I have disconnected it and it continues to stall once I move it into gear. So I really don't know.. It certainly feels exactly like how the bike stalls/doesnt work in gear with the kickstand down, but that can't be since the senor is disconnected?

I do notice that the engine oil light comes up as soon as I put it into gear, and the red light pops up as well. But I dont think this is an oil issue, I changed my oil just a few days before it was knocked over.

I really need some help. It's been over a week.. My bike is my only method of transportation.. I can't go to work and I need to start heading back cause I have bills to pay and especially rent, and I also missed out a week of classes.. I'm only 19 and I live alone, my mom lives out of the country.. I'm desperate to start riding again and be able to commute to work and school.. I can't afford to rent a truck and take it to the shop to fix up.

anyone have any suggestions? it's too dark out now but I will record it and post what's happening to me tomorrow, in case that will help.

Thank you so much in advance.

It won't stay running because the kickstand switch it disconnected. Try jumping the pins on the connector together and see what happens.

The oil light is supposed to be on if the bike is not running. If its on with it running, that's a problem.

The symptoms that you described with it stalling when it is put in gear sound exactly like what would happen if the kickstand is down.

There is a normally open limit switch at the kickstand. When the stand is raised it closes that switch. If the kickstand is no longer there you have to short the two wires together that go to the switch to make the computer think that the stand is raised.

The easiest way is to put a jumper across the two connections in the plug near the kickstand, as was previously mentioned. It sounds like you did not do that correctly. Is there anyone in the area who has a bit of electrical skills who could help you with this? Bribe them with a cold drink or something.

On a related note, how far is it to work/school? I regularly pedal 23 miles one-way to work.

Yeah the more I play around with it, the more it feels like it's the kickstand sensor. Literally, the same exact thing happens whereas if I had the kickstand down.. bike starts up on neutral, engine completely shuts off when I shift to first gear..

I did remove the kickstand completely off the bike (not just the actual stand but I removed the whole thing including the base, but the same thing is happening)

Oh and my commute to work is about 12 miles and school is about 10.. I guess ill have to get a pedal bike some how.. 10 miles seems quite a lot to pedal though. Ugh

This seems like a very simple fix. You can't short the two wires together that go to the kickstand limit switch or just purchase another kickstand?

Yea, especially when you are saying the only other option is selling it. Mannnn, I would be pushing that thing somewhere before I sold it. This should be a rather easy fix here. Whats happening when jumping?

I've tried everything(that I know of lol). My new kickstand came in but now I can't put the darn thing on -___-
The hex screws that hold the base of the kickstand onto the bike are insanely tight, I can't get them to budge at all. I've tried for hours, so much that the hex screws are starting to become rounded out. I called my local shop and they're just trying to get me to bring the bike in lol.

Can you explain the who jumping process about the two wires please? I don't think I am doing it correctly.

Ok take a short piece of scrap wire, strip the ends back a bit. Insert one end into one side of the plug and the other in the other side of the plug. Basically connecting the two wires together.
