2001 929 Fuel in the oil
I recently purchased a 01 929 and the oil light was always on @ or below 1600 rpm so i set the idol to 1650 and no more light.Then a few days ago Me and a few others were riding pretty hard high rev , high speed.I was in 5th at 10,000 rmp and ready to switch to 6th when my oil light came on and started flashing.I pulled in the clutch and used only the brakes and pulled over.When I checked the oil level it was high I dumped some out and got it to the correct level in the window but then I got a wiff of the dumped oil and it smelled of gas!I'm guessing that was the reason for the high oil level and the light to come on being that the gas thinned out the oil and lost viscosity ,nursed the bike home in 6th gear doing 55 and the motor sounded fine.I did an oil and filter change and a clutch cover gasket cuz it was leaky too also pulled the oil pan off and nothing seemed out of place or worn out.Started it up and as soon as the temp. reached 125 F the light came on again and once warm the light wont go out until 4400 rpm and there's still a little smell of gas in the oil.Where is it coming from?I checked the Fuel pressure regulator vacuum line to make sure no fuel was dripping from there (say a busted diaphragm inside the reg.)Any Ideas? hope I described it well enough.Please help any ideas welcome I really wanna ride over the holiday weekend.
