Default 2001 F4I Fuel inj light

Hello I might buy this bike only If some one sheads some light on this problem. Well I went and looked at one and the guy had the battery out so he installed it so I can here it run witch it fired right up and sounded nice. My question is the FI light was blinking I asked him why he says that its doing that due to he put a kn air filter in it. All this bike has is a kn filter and a slip on. I was like b.s in my head blinking due to a air filter. I'm a auto mechanic buy trade for over 25 years so i'm no dunny to fuel injection.
Just wondering if anyone ever had that problem with the FI light blinking after the had a dead battery or installed or jump started their bike

Thanks all for any light you can shead on this matter for me

Well thats a bunch of bull****, I have a K&N filter in my bike and it does just fine, no FI light blinks at all. I would check and see how many times it blinks and see if there is a code for it. Chances are, he knows what the problem is but he just wants to get rid of the bike so he doesnt have to deal with it.

P.S. As for the battery

Yeah, total bull. I had my battery out in order to charge it and when I put it back in there was never any problem with the FI light. I also have a slip on and a K & N and no problem at all.

Definately check the code, I also have a K&N with a slip-on. Something else is wrong. If he won't let you check the code then I'd stay away from it. If you don't know how to pull the code on this bike... turn the ignition off and remove the front seat and short the service check connector with a jumper wire. Turn the ignition on and the engine kill switch to run. Count the blinks of the FI light and if you don't have the definitions of the code, just post how many times it was blinking and I can look it up for you if you like.

It's probably linked but i put my k&n on and after using it my FI light came on, also though my speedo had stopped working on the same trip so i'm pretty sure that this is what the fault was although it's stopped flashing now and the speedo still insn't working properly. Would only come on after about 5 minutes of riding the bike , one long flash, one short one

the filter itself is not responsible, it is very possible when putting the bike back together, it was not put back together right. i would double check the electrical. as for Milko, dont buy the bike man, if your in the market to buy a bike, buy one that has absolutly nothing wrong with it, this way u have less to worry about. good luck on the buy.

Yea, he definatelly knows whats wrong with it, if he wont let you see. Anyways, you can find a good bike for $4000. Hell mine only cost 4500 and it was damn near imaculate. Nothing wrong with it what so ever.

Just look around some more, you'll find a good one.
