2 quick questions about issues after start-up
Hey guys,
I'm new to the sportbike scene, and I have a couple of quick questions regarding my bike. It is a 2001 F4i with about 29k on the odo.
I've noticed that about 25-50% of the time when I start my bike after it has completely cooled down (IE overnight, or after work) that it will idle up to 3200-3300 rpms instead of just over 2k like usual. Is this okay?
I've also noticed that after i take off once engine temps are above 120, i will take it easy, and occasionally I will hear what sounds like a little tiny bit of rod knock at idle. This doesn't always happen, and it won't come back after i ride a bit. A quick rev even gets rid of it. Is this anything to be concerned about as well?
Thanks in advance for your help.

what up pentaxis I dont have this bike but i seem to remember reading a post on this exact thing. Correct me if im wrong guys but i believe it is a normal quality the new bikes have to help get the engine going
It does have a idle up feature during warm up until 110 degrees is hit, but it is only supposed to go up just over 2k rpm. Mine sometimes jumps more than 1.2k higher than that..
I am not sure about the warming up process for an F4I. I was pondering about the knock sound you mentioned and I was thinking that it could be the timing chain. CBR's are notorious for making timing chain noise which by the way will sounds like a knocking sounds and will come and go.
