Default 1999 CBR 600 F4 Rear

I am converting my 99 Cbr 600 F4 into a race bike. I want to lighten up the tail, I'm ordering a tail section with a GP style seat. On the right side under the street fairing are a bunch of electrical pieces, can I get rid of any of them? What are each one for?

I want to get an aftermarket shock for the rear, I know the F4i's will fit but are there any other shocks that will cross reference? I'm looking for a used one.

Thanks for any help

Cheers,
Sean

Go over to the F4 section & download the online pdf of the factory Honda service manual. There are wiring diagrams & component descriptions.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

as far as aftermarket shocks go, I know that penske and hyperpro manufacture a few shocks and jut fit different attachment points to the ends for the different bikes. I would be surprised of Ohlins and the other guys dont do the same. so you can buy what ever you want just make sure and call the shock manufacturers and make sure you can get the right mounting points from them first.

As far as setting up a dedicated track bike and building yourself a custom loom, I feel it is better for you to explore the manual and search out the tweeks, mods and other changes you can do yourself. Otherwise if we just provide you with the info than you wont have a true and intimate knowledge of your personal bike and how it likes to run. That's a personal philosophy though; so I will be here to help with everything I can.

Thanks for the help on the shock. I don't disagree with the set up being a personal thing and a bit of right of passage, just looking for a helping hand every now and then. Racing is a very time consuming and money consuming way of life, but well worth it so far
