Even with the mod the heat from 100w bulb will melt the wiring and cause a short, it will also melt the multi plug too, its not designed for that type of heat.

When you use a relay, the power goes through new wires that you run straight from the battery, fused. So the power going through the stock wiring is only enough to pull the coil down inside the relay, which takes maybe 1 watt. Your stock wiring is safe because you are only using it for a signal.

If you get aftermarket sockets, with 16 or 14 gauge wire, you should not have a problem with them melting. I have made harnesses specifically because a customer kept melting his sockets, and he has not had a problem since. You don't have to make my word for it, but there are aftermarket harnesses meant for that sort of thing, especially off roading.

The whole point is that with HIDs, you use less power (only 35watts) and get 3 times the brightness... the up front cost is more, but it's totally worth it.

give it a little more time...and you'll see.

as far as bulbs...you can bust silverstars but not the domestic ones from sylvania...but the overseas OSRAM types...those are very nice...or get the philips vision plus +50.

Yeah, I took them out of the bike about 5 days after I put them in. The lenses get super hot and just wanted to be proactive. I have some 55 HID look a likes in there now and are awesome ,,,,, I forgot abou this subject, it was a while ago
