1000rr Over Heating

It is currently 72 degrees in Washington State.
I have a 04 1000rr with 15k miles. Yoshi, Commander, Flapper Mod, etc
I traded it in with my 954rr 2 weeks ago.
Two weeks ago it was even hotter, in the 80's but i never noticed the problem.
I will start the bike up to warm up and I noticed that from 180f, it will increase to 200 at the same pace as a clock. When I would ride on the street, it would stay at 200 and at stop light, it would quickly get in to 215.
If i'm waiting at the stop light for more than a couple minutes then it will slowly rise to 227 and the fan would kick in.
Once the fan kicks in, it will stay at 229 and will not budge at all.
I took it on the freeway and it slowly started dropping and stayed at 180 the whole time I was on freeway. Right when I got off, it took less than a minute to get back in to 200 and then 210 and 225. It never went passed 229 ever.
This is getting me worried.
The only thing I did to the bike was that I accidently pressed the "High" button on the power commander when the bike was on. Does that have anything to do with it? I took it to the guy from whom I bought it and he said that the commander was custom tuned and that 1000rr are supposed to run that high.
I touched the lower fairings and they were boiling hot.
I recall when I use to have 954rr, it would only get this hot to the point where i could feel like in my legs when it was over 95F temperature, never in the 70's.
Any suggestions? Is it still safe to ride on the street or freeway or neither? and how to address or fix this issue? Thanks

For the most part, it sounds normal. My 05 1000RR will gain in temp really fast at a stop light and keep a fairly high temp while driving under 35 mph. That part is normal for these bikes and I've owned mine since new. the part that is a bit odd is the fan not kicking on till 227. Mine kicks on at 217. My 04 and my 05 both kick on at that temp. The fan shuts off at 215 or so. Your description has your temp 10 degrees hotter than the way mine reacts.
Having said that. You may want to do a coolant flush. Or at the very least, check the coolant that is in the bike and see if its ok. Your bike being nearly 8 years old and not yours originally, it could very well still have the original coolant in it. If it were me, I'd change it just to make sure you have fresh coolant.
But as far as high temp, these bikes run over 200 degrees on a regular basis.

I have a 07 1krr, mine runs pretty much the same temp and scenario that you have described. I already flushed and replaced my coolant with liquid ice antifreeze.
Mine cools down faster than before, but temps stay in the same range. I don't think that you have anything to worry about. I would recommend a flush be done, if not to fix it, but for peace of mind. If your still worried, i have seen on here that someone wired in a bypass switch that you can make the fan turn on/off manually.
