1, weird 2, tire warming
Riding today, I noticed something for the first time. My 06'1KRR idles around 1100 pretty steady, and today, when I was in neutral, same ole idle, but when I shift into first, still holding the clutch in, it bumps up a bit to 1200-1300RPM?? I did this several times at every stoplight, why the heck would the idle bump up when going into gear? Also, how long does it take tires to warm up....I hear allot about accidents being helped by cold tires and all, so I was curious if there was a time or milage until you felt that your tires were warmed up, and if so, is it a huge difference for non track riding?

Probably some kind of compression thing on the RPMs, I dunno the exact answer.
As for the tires, I greatly believe in warming them up before "getting into riding". I was in a hurry a while back and left the house and went, got into a turn hard and slid pretty bad and about dumped it. I was in the habit of warming the tires before then, but was in a hurry. I usually ride about 15 minutes or so and slightly swerve back & forth every now and then in the lane. Just me though

Drag, yup... it depends. Lots of people get "caught out" on cold tires. Its seldom the thing, they think of first. Even if it's 80f out... those tires do need to "heat up" . I remember a UK bike rag test, about heating 'em up... they found that accel. and brake'n(moderate), introduced heat faster than the "nascar weave". Those Brits, have too much time on there hands!!!!!!Might be a bit safer, too.
Oh ya that rpm thing... does the fact the clutch is disengaged, mean theres less "tranny drag"... even in gear?? try it in nuetral, w/ and w/o clutch. Whats it do???
Free and clean, Ripp'n

I do the two finger shift on the clutch, and I think I'm not pulling the clutch in all the way, but I haven't changed anything so don't know why all the sudden it's different. When I do a full-on grap, it acts normal, so I adjusted the clutch lever and so far so good, but stumped on why it would start acting wierd like that.

At the race track they say it's a waste of time to do the "NASCAR weave" (not that I didn't used to do it myself). But Ifind that it takes a good 4 to 5 miles of riding at steady speed to get some heat in the tires. If it's cold or rainy out, be extra careful!
