Hey guys, as it says i have an '07 CBR 1k and about a month ago i hit a huge rock on the highway and it tore off the bottom fairing and put a hole in one of the header pipes. So i fould a set of headers that were off a salvage bike but they're in real good shape. I got them all put on and when i start the bike it smells really rich and theres smoke coming out of the exhaust. Any ideas what it could be? Could the gas be bad after a month? Thanks for any help.

 

did the oxygen sensor get damaged? a hard hit can break it internally. check the plug too

 

SOME bikes have o2 sensors...
if you HAVE one and put a header on without one then the bike's ECU is running it rich..

if you did not have one .. and put the right header on ..

first think i would do is check header gaskets (20.00) for a new set (4)
put a new set on ... tighten properly ..


if you ONLY changed header there is no reason .. other than if you HAD an o2 ... on why its running rich
