Ok, I know the CBR1000RR is noisey but this is REAL noisey, I have an 04 CBR1000RR completely stock except for flapper mod (flapper completely removed). I know the normal "tick" is one thing and thats pretty much what you hear when you rev it in neutral and listen for it, It seems MUCH worse and louder when riding, I can hear it TICK TICK TICK TICK at 80MPH!!!! It does it when just cruising, accelerating, decelerating etc. If I pull in the clutch the rpm drops of course and the noise goes away, it seems to be more on the left side than the right. I have had it to Honda and they listened to it and said its normal, but of course noone has ridden it to hear it that way. Is anyone elses this loud? The bike has just turned 10,000 miles, runs fantastic, no idling or running problems whatsoever, fresh Honda hp4 oil. If it is truly normal then I will just turn up the Ipod and not worry and get a powerstroke diesel sticker for the side fairings and be on my way. I had another 04 and don't remember it being this loud but I had a full exhaust system and power commander too. Any help would be great!!! Thanks for reading!

 

It's extremely hard to tell if it's ticking too loud, too much or where it's coming from. I would recommend taking a look at valve clearances, adjust if need be and call it a day.

 

My 954 had that same noise and i thought it was normal untill i took it to my machanic and he said that it normal. I had sold my 954 to one of my machaics friend and they had order the part that only cost around $100 bucks. I dont remember what it was but when i speak to him again i will ask. I think it was something of the bearings in the tranny or the clutch. Trust me that noise aint normal becouse my machanic pulled the clutch when he was explaining it to me and his 954 also had the same noise untill he took care of it.

 

hmm, dont know how to help ya. My 1000RR doesnt make any tick noise. I can hear a slight noise, but I think its my injectors firing.. other than that, dont really know.

I know 600F3's had an issue with the bearing on the end of the clutch. When the clutch was pulled in, it would go away, when released, it would come back.

I havent heard too much about the 04-05 1000RR's ticking.

 

I constantly hear the 1000 is a very noisey engine, I installed a Jardine slip on and the bike sounds much better now, when Im not paying attention I don't notice the ticking as much but when I listen for it I can still hear it all the way from 3,000 RPM theu the whole RMP range.
I have put this bike thru the paces and like I said theres no performance issues at all, I have shifted thru the gears and taken it all the way to the shift light and the bike MOVES, but its just noisey, I would think that if it was something serious it would have come apart by now.
I also changed the header gaskets just to be sure, and it made no change.
Its not as noisey when first warming up, most noticeable after been riding for a while.

I have been just cranking up the Ipod and riding!

 

what oil are you running? Just curious as you say it is louder after it warms up. Could be thinning down too much. just a thought.

Well if it hasn't blown up after the ride I took today, I geuss its normal, the bike was definately put to the test today!!!! Rode out to stunt wars and back with a group of people who only know triple digit speeds and high revs!!! I also heard an 07 CBR1000 that was very noisy!
I think i was just use to riding a much quieter R1 for so long!
