Yet another running temperature question...
OK, my bike has a 50/50 Antifreeze and water solution. When sitting idle for long periods of time, I'll hit temperatures up to 229F (or 109C for you canadian people... 382K for you scientists)
Alot of guys will tell you that this is really really hot while others will say this is normal.
So my question is directed to those guys who never get any hotter than 200F or so:
Are you running 50/50? Because I'm doubting it. If you are, should the rest of us be worried?
Anyone running 50/50 who never hear their fan come on?
I've heard people say that they never get above 190 even sitting idle. Those guys can't be running 50/50...

Sitting still mine gets over 220 or so but then the fan kicks on..
Depends on how long i sit in traffic before mine goes up..
Highway speeds mine stays in the 175~180 range..
Mines bone stock with 3k miles on it..
AS long as the mix is right ,fan is coming on.I would not worry about it..

I've used 50/50 antifreeze/water (when the bike was new), then Engine Ice, and now Redline SuperCool. Exact same results with all 3... about 178 on the highway, and up to 229 sitting at idle at a long light. Fan comes on at 225, goes up to 229, cools down to 218 (unless it's really really hot out, then sometimes it hovers around 224) and the fan shuts off... repeats until I start moving again. Been doing these temps like clockwork for 107k now.... only time it ever went hotter was one time when I was up in Daytona for biketoberfest a couple years ago, crawling along for what seemed like an hour going to main st, it went up to 231 for a sec but then went right back down.
I assure you your temps are 100% normal

if you put more water in your engine than antifreeze it will cool better but freeze at higher tempuratures. plus you run the risk of corrosion from dissolved oxygen ions. I think you could possibly run a 50/50 of redline water wetter and water i think i read somewhere about people doing that at the racetrack because you can't use anything with glycerol. i've heard people say their bikes never get above 200 too and personally i think they're either full of **** or they never start the bike.
That is exactly how my bike runs, I got 50/50 mix with water wetter added. If the humidity is up the temp goes up faster. The only time I had a prob was when fans was stuck by tar that had fliped up there somehow.
