The 10th digital of the VIN also indicates the year. Starting in 2001, the 10th digital would be 1, 2002 would be 2, etc., etc. They (all vehicle manufacturers) used letters for the 10th digital in 2000 and prior. When 2011 rolls around, not sure if they will go back to letters or not (I hope not!!).

 

What a load of crap. I have a black and red 2002 F4i (yes the 10th DIGIT is a 2 as well). Another guy in town has the same bike as well (black/red 2002).
