Default Wow! I am the definition of noob

So I picked this bike up back in may and been loving it ever since. So since I got the bike I've been on here a lot asking questions and what not about different things and how tos. And the one thing that was bugging me the most and what I complained about all the time was this buzzing/chatter sound up high in the rpms. I was looking at the cct and figured it was that but was putting off actually installing it BC I wasn't sure if that was the issue. It wasn't really a chain loosening sound. Well I found the problem and it wasn't the bike, it was the noobie rider haha I've been putting 93 octane in the bike. Today it popped in my head to put 87 octane cause that's actually what thebike calls for. And presto no more noise and bike is running wayyyyy better than it was before. Today was a great day for the noobs.

I put 93 in and it runs good? The sticker in my trunk space says fuel grade or 91 but we don't have 91 around so I use 93.

The sticker in the trunks say "91 RON", which is 87 octane.

Hope this doesn't start another fuel and octane requirement thread.....ahhhhhhhhh.

2001, and it seems to run good and every ASE mechanic I've talked to says 93. No debate just saying mine runs fine on 93, to each is own right?

Also I work for a gas station and I learned more about the gas and what not. They put more ethanol in lower grades of gas around here at least. And for shell the 93 is the vpower with supposedly more cleaning what nots, and my throttle bodies looked great. Yet again I'm not debating, it makes no difference to me what grade you guys use haha

Right. To each their own. Run whatever you want in it.

I've run both and can't really feel a difference in my 01. My other 01 seemed to get better mileage on the premium, but it had an o2 and stock erion exhaust on it.

I've been an ASE master tech for almost twenty years, and I know that my bike doesn't have the compression ratio to need premium. Just saying....

Fuel composition is always changing. You are correct about all the ethanol, as well as other additives, labeled for "cleaning up the air" , but fuels are getting worse for performance. Too bad.

I have no idea what could make that noise, fuel related anyway...
