Won't prime and/or start
Hey i have a 01 f4i, after a ride the other day when i was going to return home, i turned the key and noticed the fuel pump didn't prime, and the engine would try to turn over and would start, but once i released the starter button the engine would die.....
Now the bike never doesn't start, all the dash lights work, but i noticed the headlights, and the front turn signals don't work and doesn't prime......any ideas?

Check the front gray harness that run down by the left intake and plugs into the main wiring harness. Make sure all the wires are solid in the harness with no corrosion especially the green ground wire. Also make sure the harness is fully plugged together. Put a little dielectric grease on it before you put it back together. Try it out and let us know if this fixes your problem or not.
One thing i noticed today was that when i have the kill switch off, but push the starter, the front turn signals will come on (both of them)...if the signal is on it will blink, if not it will just stay lit....the headlights still stay off...and the high beam indicator turns off anytime you push the starter whether the engine start button is on or not....
Your headlight operation sounds normal. My shot in the dark is that your fuel pump is bad. Either that, or the connection is. I'd trace the wires to/from the fuel pump to make sure they're good. If so, try replacing it.
Always start with simple solutions. Check fuses first. Spray starting fluid down your intake and try turning the bike over. If it starts and runs for a second then you know you have spark, so then turn your attention to fuel. If you spray starting fluid down your intake and it does nothing I would turn to an electrical problem. I don't know if you have any friends with F4i's but what I have done in the past was just really quickly swap out fuel pumps so I could eliminate that as a problem. Besides, fuel pumps are pretty cheap... after that I always had a spare one laying around just so I could at least check things and not go crazy back tracking. The more problems you can eliminate the better.
