Winterizing Question
I did everything that I need to do to store my bike for the winter besides change the oil. How importtant is it that I do that before the next riding season? The oil in there only has about 800 miles on it and it's been in the bike for about 6 months.
I've read that having fresh oil is one of the most important things, although if your oil is only 800 miles old, maybe it won't be too bad.
Here's what I found in http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/index.html
"Storing a bike with used oil is not a good idea. Water vapor and condensation in your crankcase oil will combine at room temperature with sulpher to form sulphuric acid. This is a bad thing. The sulpher mostly gets into the oil as combustion by-products, so if the oil is new, this is not a problem."

I guess I can change it this weekend. I think it's kinda weird though to change the oil and then let it sit for like 5 months. You would think it would need to be changed again by the time spring rolls around anyway.
how important is it to change the oil when the bike is in a heated place? my bike in is my basement... i have a walk in basement that is heated so i put it there for the winter. i figured there not much condensation when the bike is in a warm place
