Default Where am i going wrong with my HID's??

Hey guys, I finally bought a bike (2001 F4i, with 10k miles) the bike is flat black, and i have tons of plans for it! which include's more carbon fiber then you can imagine (real carbon fiber, not that black ****) With alot of Dark metallic blue accents.
anyway im using one of my hid kits from my last bimmer. Its a 55 watt prolumen hid kit, it has a ballast and the bulb, it connects with a 9006 connecter. what i did (which i have done for 100s of kit instals at the shop i worked at [but this was on bimmers, not bikes]) is i went to pepboys and i bought a male 9006 plug. I cut off the plug that conects to the low beam light bulb so i had two wire (one with a white stripe and a purple one i think) so i didnt know which wire was the ground. SO i figured i would just figure it out by process of elimination. i put the male connecter into the ballast, connect the bulb. and turned the bike on, and it didnt light up. i switched the wires, started it up, and it didnt light up. I tried switching up balast and bulbs, and it never lit up???? and the high beam wont turn on?? which one is the ground wire? any help would be REALLY appriciated!
i did search an i didnt find anything that help my problem. (again i have done alot of hid installs, so im kind of baffeld on why the bulb wont light up)

Do your self a favor and buy yourself a cheap volt meter. IT will save you alot of trouble. I don't know what color it is but i just measured the leads and connected. A ballast will not produce power if the leads are connected back words.

i know, they wont power the ballast if they are backwords. I even connected the stock plug and tried to wire them through there. and it didnt work. i then hooked them up to my car... and they worked flawlessly
im thinking i could have blown a fuze? where is the headlight fuze located?

all of the fuses are located under the seat. have you tried plugging the wires back into the stock headlight?
