What tires should I get?

Hi. I need new tires, so I would like to ask you what to get.
I know this is a question asked extremely often and I have found a LOT of information on the net regarding this issue - however I am a total newbie and much of the stuff being discussed doesn't apply to me - people are talking about dragging frame sliders where I will be probably doing mostly street riding with the occasional touring ride when spring comes. I heard about some tires having a different (triangular) profile and about this affecting the way the bike behaves in turns, and a lot of other stuff I don't totally understand.
So: I asked around and I can get either Michelin PPs, Michelin pilot sports, Metzeler sportec M3, Pirelli diablo corsa III or regular Pirelli diablos. These are all at about the same price range (surprisingly) - as most of the racing tires come with discounts. What should I get? What should I stay away from? Would you add anything else to the list?
Thanks for your thoughts.

When it comes to traction on a bike, I dont think anything is overkill. You wont be disapointed.

That being said it comes down to more details than just traction and the standard PP are a feel of there own. I have on quifiers right now because I got them dirt cheep and they are a nice tire, but I do prefer the steering of the pp.

rodantking
I absolutely agree on the fact that there is alot more than just traction when it comes to tires. I personally rode nothing but the bridgestone battlax for a couple of years and swore by them.
I was just trying to assure the person that if they went with the pp's (2ct or not) they would be more than satisfied.
I understand there are many other choices. This is a subject that is just as sensitive as the difference in the f4i or the rr in my opinion. But that is just my .02
