The one on my 2001 F4i says F4 (manufacterer date of 11/00) I've heard of 01s being called F4s, but don't think there ever were any. Was Honda confused when they were going to swap in the fuel injected motor and call it F4i?
Anyways, what does yours say?

And you*re right there is no 01 F4.

 

Yeah, I know that vehicles and such are manufactured before the year they represent, but why doesn't it say F4i, instead of F4

 

maybe one of the F4i guys will confirm this, but I dont think any of the F4i s have i on the VIN sticker. As you know the i just represents fuel injection.

 

So we really only have fuel injected F4s. I thought the ' i ' actually represented the model, but not to Honda I guess? Not trying to start an arguement BTW.

No F4"i" i just means fuel injection, its still a F4 model frame just with small tweaks.
My insurance company calls my bike a F4 was well.

 

And on some websites for aftermarket parts and stuff for the f4i it only says F4 also.

 

I have a 2/01 F4i And my vin sticker still says f4. The "i" does stand for injection why they didt add that on the sticker i dont know.

 

Because it wasnt a new model, just modifications to the current platform. The RR was the next new model and was labeled as such. Since they seased production on carbureted versions of the F4 there wasnt any need to label the injected version another way.
