i did mine the other day with a laserpointer on a chair....if you search you can find a great write-up with pictures on how to do it step by step...i am very happy with the outcome of my vortex f.s.'

I purchased the $2 "tool" when I got my sliders.

Basically a steel pencil that you thread through the engine bolt that was removed for the slider. Then you reinstall the fairing and push down on the fairing to make an impression in the plastic fairing. Then you just have to drill where that impression was made.

Easy as pie.

doesnt screw up the paint when u drill it ?..and how big is the hole u drill

You can put some putty or even play-dough would work on the inside of the fairing. Put the fairing on and there should be an exact inprint of the bolt head in the putty. I haven't done it with a f4i but it worked perfect with my buddies bike.

This is a very good way of doing it.

ya putty is a good idea..but ...how big is the hole u have to drill?
