Vibration in Neutral
Hi All,
I know that this subject of vibration is brought up a lot (as I could tell by searching) but I was wondering if anybody had any ideas for me. After having my bike for about 3,500 miles, I'm noticing more vibration than when it was new. In fact I didn't really notice any vibration at all when it was new, it felt completely smoothe.
I thought it was a wheel issue - so I tried to rev while in neutral and not rolling - and still it vibrates. Can somebody else please try this on their '06 f4i? I notice the vibrations a lot at 7krpm and up (mostly in the handlebar, but I feel it in the seat and on the pegs when I am riding too).
I will most likely take my bike into the dealer next week but I want to avoid spending money if possible. The vibration is high frequency, I don't notice any sound, and it makes my riding uncomfortable and I focus on it more than on the road which never was the case before.
Also, when I am riding I can feel the vibration points shift while I am in different RPM's (certain RPM's will only vibrate the left peg instead of both, etc.)
I would not say it's nerves from being a new rider since I didn't notice it before, and it's not wheel/suspension related since it vibrates the same amount if i'm riding or if i'm standing still and revving in neutral. What could cause this? Is there an engine mount or something that may have wiggled loose - maybe after my super slow drop of it last week (I laid her down VERY gently while doing a slow u-turn)?
Nothing else as far as I know is wrong with the bike.
Thanks for any input!

The F4i is known to produce vibration between 6.5k-7.5k rpm. Does it vibrate in neutral at engine idle speed or when its revved up? Did you notice vibration before your 'slow drop'?
both bar ends are snug. it does not vibrate at engine idle, but after 7.5k it continues to vibrate all the way up to 11k or 12k (I haven't redlined it because the vibrations get worse and are very distracting). I did not not notice the vibrations before i dropped the bike, but it was truly a very very slow drop and although it adds up in the equation, i feel like it is not the root cause of my vibration - i just didn't drop it hard enough to do any real mechanical damage, in my opinion...
7.5k is where valve overlap begins to get noticeable. It is the beginning of the bikes initial "powerband". If you haven't taken the bike to redline then you are actually hurting the break-in of the motor. Vibration is normal, you will get used to it once the muscles in your wrists build up. If you have only put 3500 miles on it and it is your first bike you are still building muscle. The motor is probably fine.
Maybe post your location and meet up with another F4i driver and ask them to see if it feels like theirs. Sometimes it can be difficult to describe a vibration to where others can help.
Let me rephrase - I took the bike up to redline before and bounced her off the rev limiter a fair amount of times - but before I didn't notice this much vibration.
I'm in northern jersey if anybody else is around here and wants to try to help me out. But it's also a warranty issue so I'll probably take it into the shop anyway later this week.

I think that 4,000 is one of the maint. schedule marks so I'll probably just deal with it till then and mention it to them to see if they can tighten up any engine mounting bolts or anything like that. :-) thanks for the help!
the only thing i would think is that somehow your bar ends got damaged those things are heavy and put on there for areason and maybe when you droped it, it poped it out of allignment or somthing.
if anyone has lost a barend completly and your hand hurts after about 5min of riding you know what i mean hope it somthing as simple as that.
