My bike was hit while PARKED in front of my house!
A trailer making a delivery, didn't move far enough to the left of the curb, and WHAM! Grinded the hell outta my bike.
Funny thing is that I saw the whole thing from my window! Had to chase the guy down the street... could have been a "hit-n-run"!

... and he things he "just tipped it over"... yeah right.

Note the scratching in the cement by the curb, from the stand while the bike was dragged:

So what will come of this? How did you get him to stop? He admitted knowing he hit your bike but kept going, WTF? You should have hit it with your car before you stopped him, LOL.

sucks very much so. in your alignment pic how is the bike sitting? and are your bars straight on to you?

 

Yeah really sucks.

In the pic, the handelbars were straight onto me. The fender is outta alignment, but it wasn't touched during the accident, hinting the forks may be bent.
But they were taken apart (along with the entire front end), and they checked out OK.
Forgot what part the mechanic said was busted... "Upper _______" along the steering.
In addition, the ignition/key assembly is busted too... can't turn the key to lock, and hard to insert the key and turn it "on".

The estimate for the damage is crazy.
Told the driver what it is, and he had a hissy-fit! Accusing me of lying, and scamming!!???
Some people just don't understand how expensive bike parts/service can be.... especially when A TRAILER GRINDS INTO IT!

 

Dang dude, that mother trucker hosed your bike up good. He better be covering it. Of not go after his company.

 

wow that sucks man! If that driver gives you crap about fixing it go to his company. I just hope you had a police report filed becuse if you didnt do it soon enough then you cant do it and there is no way to prove that the truck hit you.

 

Yeah, whether he just tipped it over or drug it, that's not the point. He shoulda stopped.

+1 on the police report because he may try to stick you since its going to cost so much.

 

Definitely involve the police. The fact that he knew he hit your bike and tried to leave the scene says something about his character and if no police are involved and he thinks he can dodge the bill like he tried to dodge the scene, he most certainly will.
