Default Tire groove paint

Does it hurt to paint the tire grooves? One of the previous owners had done it on my rear tire (pic).
Now it's time to change tires, and I'm wondering if I can use Honda touch up paint to do the job...

What do you guys think?

I don't think it hurts the tires. There is actual paint for tires you can get. I think a company called DUPLI-COLOR makes it.

Don't do it when the tread gets lower though. If it's raining the layer of paint might be all thats between you and the road with a worn tire.

thats pretty cool, but doesnt it wear out really fast? And if you let your tires get low enough to get to that part, its probably time to buy a new tire =]

A friend of mine ran over a spilled can of latex paint that fell off a truck....his tire had a sort of eggshell color splash paint job. Unfortunatly so did his undertail and lower fairings.[sm=yikesomg.gif]

minimal grip if it ever comes on contact with the road so don't ever let your tire get low...or near the wear indicators mang! even when it's still not touching, just remember that under load the tire will flex, compress, etc...so it may still contact pavement!
