Default throttle cable broke?

Hey guys, I have 01 f4i with 23k miles. I am the third owner (ive only put about 6k on it) and can tell you that it has spent some time outside (ie. not garaged kept until now) everything else is fine on the bike rounds solid, just went to a track day about a month ago with it and had a blast.
recently my throttle cable broke, i have a replacement on the way but im just curious is that a "normal" thing? thanks

Cables do require maintenance and sometimes replacement.

There is a cable lube and tool made for it. Your dealer should do it at service intervals if you don't do it yourself.

no...chain lube for your drive chain...

cable lube stuff for your cable...i use lithium grease...and spray it, but it's thick and will take like a million years to make it's way down the cable...
