Hey guys i was wondering how many people have the targa seat cowl on their f4i? I was thinking about getting one and wanted to know how do they connect to the bike, and if you are still able to take the seat off with the cowl there

 

I have one on an 06 F4i. There's a strap that connects over the seat to the lugs on the underside of the seat that attach the latches. There are then clips you put on the strap and put a screw into each of the clips. It's good quality; looks good installed; but, no, you can't take the seat off without taking the cowl off first (which is kind of a PIA), because the rear of the cowl is molded over the rear of the stock tail, and the seat won't pop up and disengage initially in order to slide it off. It really LOOKS nice though, especially if you ditch the rear mudflap fender.

 

I just installed a '02 F4i seat cowl today. Just take off the stock rear seat, screw on two brackets and 3 bolts (the photo makes it alot easier than the written instructions)and it clicks right in like the seat. trunk operates the same way too. only thing is you have to take the bolts out for the seat. looks really nice. exact color match, i recommend it.
