Default Tank Grip / Stompgrip / Substitutes

Hey guys,

I've a CBR f4i. I feel that I will need a tank grip to stay more stable during braking, etc. I do wear leather pants all the time, no exceptions. Stompgrip is about $50 , which I think is really absurd for a big plastic sticker on both sides of the tank.

It has the grip dots, but it's still a plastic sticker for 50 buck! And secondly, I'd like to know if it would damage my leather pants/suit in any way?

Anyone recommends it still?! And is there an alternative. I prefer the clear kind, so not to make my bike look ugly in the process.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!

i say pass on it, are you tracking your bike or just riding on the street? unless you move around on the seat alot you will be fine just squeezing the tank.
but if you push back in the seat comming from a tuck at 130mph, pop up, brake until you see the light, yeah sure your knees are going to only have a small contact space.
then the grip would be very helpfull. but if you insist.. the best option i seen with my research was stompgrip for $45.
there may be tapes out there that dont have bumps, google motorcycle grip tape. stuff looks like sandpaper.
anyways whatever you do if you go stompgrip make sure you install it proper with a tennis ball, blow dryer and patience.

I use TechSpec Snake Skin on my ZX6R and I absolutely love it. It provides so much grip when hanging off of the bike and when braking. Also it can be removed and re-positioned if necessary.

I just use cheaper non-slip bathtub stick-on pads.. less than $10 from local pharmacy.. cut to any shape you want to fit the tank/frame..

Just bought TechSpec Snakeskin myself, haven't put them on yet but they seem like they'll be really grippy and appear to be good quality.
