I always liked the idea of just bolding the bike straight up and using a level to see the clearance

 

Personally i like the long ones that are like 4 inches long. I layed mine over coming out of a parking lot and they saved the bike so longer the better in my opinion.

 

read this thread and liked what i saw.... since i am repainting my bike and my panels are primed i dont have to worry about ruining my paint or vinyls so i decided to get a pair.... 24 dollars shippped to the door... a good deal....
