My relays are on the other side. The only black box on the left side of the tail on my Mutt F4i (several different year parts) is the Rectifier but it is about 4" further forward.

If it's got fins on it, then it's the rectifier.

can u use the zip tie to start the engine too?

haha not yet. nah that ziptie is only temporary until i get around to doing the trunk release mod.

and the other ziptie is for my leds that i put in my under tray that shine on my rear tire, i meant to cut it but i forgot.

Looks like he has it setup to tug on the end of the zip tie to release the trunk.

You can also take a longer bicycle cable and re-route it to wherever you want. Some guys put them under the corner of the pilot seat.

What are you doing back there that requires so many fairing removals? I havent touched mine since I painted it and installed the undertail over a year and a half ago. I even managed to install my PCIII without removing it.

The ABS has just enough flex to get over it, but too many times and you will craze the paint (spiderweb cracks). The F4i tail is already prone to cracks so I leave mine alone as much as possible. If I ever rash it I will replace it with fiberglass just like my lower fairings.
