Default Sprockets

Has anyone used this combo. AFAM 520 conversion kit with D.I.D. ERC3 race chain. I'm thinking of staying stock on the front(16) and up 2 on the rear(48). I'm not sure if this is enough. I need more grunt on the low end but I don't want to loose too much on the high. What do ya think. Also what chain tool do I need to get?

Thank's, Jim

What are you using the bike for?

I'm running -1,+2 on an F4 (very simular)... if you check out my photogallery there are some charts with different gearings.

If you do alot of highway miles, +2 is still quite a bit. If you are running on a track -1,+2 is pretty good as you will never top the bike out anyhow.

I'm using it for the track and twisties. But what I need is more grunt out of the corners on the track. My buddy has a 675 and killes me out of the corners.

then at least go -1 up front...or since you're doing 520 conversion, go with AFAM +3 rear. this will give you some great drive out of the corners, but as far as track is concerned...your gearing will be dependent on the track.

i would recommend some SS lines too...so you out-brake him into the turns and the +3 for the drive out. if you do other gearings, like -1/+2...you may end up spinning the rear or lifting the front coming out of the turn.

oh...and as far as the 675...well...it's gots the revs of the 4 and the torque of a twin...so the drive coming out of turns will always be good...so you might as well just out ride him!

Do braided brake lines help that much?

I would recommend it as a total must do as far as performance.

do it and then wonder how you ever lived without SS lines!

just do the front, the rear is touch as is and will just lock up very easily.

Thank's...................I think I will do the +3 on the rear and do the SS lines.

Thank you very much, Jim
