Sprocket Question

RE: Sprocket Question
What will you be doing with the bike? Are you a street rider and occasionally hit the freeway?
I know I have a 929, but with +3 in the rear I had a 500 rpm increase in all gears. You can tell and it a little buzzy on the freeway and I lost fuel economy. If you decide to go with -1 and +2 the bike will be substantially higher in rpm on freeways and long stretches.
As far as 520 you will need to change both sprockets and chain. Go with a -1 in the front it is cheap (around $25) and the easiest part of the mod to do.
When you do the change your speedo will read faster, thus, adding undue mileage to your tripmeter. Install a www.speedohealer.com to allieviate this problem.

RE: Sprocket Question
my 2004 f4i stock would come up no problem in first and had to clutch it up in second... last month i added vortex -1 +2 and i feel a big difference in acceleration and higher rpms.... first gear wheelies are kinda insane clutching where as power wheelies feel much better in first now, havent had much time to ride seeing i live in mass and the weather sucks but cant wait to see how 2nd and 3rd do wheelie wise... heading to daytona march 3rd on her so plenty of riding time there just hope the weather is nice

RE: Sprocket Question
If you want me to believe then borrow a GPS and aim your camera on that. Stock speedos tend to be about 7 percent happy. That means if you're showing 170 then you might only be doing 159. Don't get me wrong 159 is hauling a$$ but that's about where a 600 tops out unless is has some serious engine mods.
Almost forgot -- almost all GPS units will have a high speed recall so wait til the run's over before taking any pics. After I first posted I had a terrible image of you sitting up to take a picture and flying off the bike[]

RE: Sprocket Question
I did the -1/+1 on my F4i, and after doing the exhaust and remapping and all that, the Dyno reported a top speed of 140mph, while the speedo was reading 162mph. That's a huge difference. So I got the speedo healer and recalibrated the speedo.
I am considering swapping out the rear sprocket for a +2 to see how much extra power I get... Might drop my top speed to 135mph but it should be wicked quick acceleration getting there.
