Default spike fairing bolts

i did a search on here and didn't see and threads so i figured why not....
i kinda like the style of the black spikes on silver or light colored fairings..
i know a lot of guys do not like the look and think it's tacky...but i don't care it's my bike...lol...
a week ago i had a low speed crash, 25-30mph..and i noticed the parts of my fairing where the spikes were it didn't do that much damage.. it i had stock bolts on it it would have been worse.. personally i would rather spend another $30 or so for more spikes than hundreds for new fairings and paint...still not sure about the frame slider spike i think it would just brake off or catch the road and cause more damage...
here is a picture of what i am talking about, the spike took a lot more damage than the fairing.. that red stuff by the spike is blood, sorry didn't have time to clean up the bike before i took this picture..
the second picture you can see what the road did to the fairing at the top, shaved the paint right off all the way down to the plastic but by the spikes it just scratched it a little..

Would the blood have been there without the bolts?

um yeah the blood doesn't have anything to do with the bolts or damage to the fairing....

Lol ok just thought I'd ask. The reason I won't get spiked bolts is I'd be to worried about them hurting me when just regual ones wouldn't.

well if you wreck more than likely you will be thrown from bike.. and if the bike did land on you chances are the spikes are the least of your worries.. but to each there own...
i like them and the helped protect my fairings so i am happy with them..

Yep, to each his own.

How 'bout giving a write up on how you attached the wire mesh to the lowers. Did you do it?

ebay....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-...ht_2010wt_1165

these are the ones i got... the other style is just round, i noticed it helps to have the two flat spots on the sides for a wrench... i is they would have made it more for a deep socket since there are a few fairing bolts on the f4i that go into the fairing.. i just tighten by hand and recheck every time before i ride.. after a few days of this and they get tight...since they are just bolts with a spike head you can put them just about any where...
