Default Speedo/Odo problems-speed sensor

I have just bought a 2001 CBR F4I and the speedo and odo are not reading. Speedo always zero which causes odo not to change. I have done some research and saw it might be VSS. I am new to motorcycles so if someone could help me that has had same problem go through the wires I should check before buying new VSS and if not a location where I can get a VSS (if other years/models VSS will fit this bike. Thanks so much!!

I have the same problem. Speedo and, therefore, the odometer have been working for me intermittently. This is on my lengthy to-do list (that may be pushed back if winter comes this year)

Default speed sensor

If your speed sensor is bad it will throw a code. The service connector is under the seat right by the ecu.

sounds like a speed sensor,Mine was doing it when i first got it. Just replace the speed sensor, its not a fun job. and it should be flashing a code

So if not flashing code then a wire is probably just disconnected or loose? Does anyone know the common wires that disconnect that could cause this?

So just go to bike and was checking the things I have heard to check like to see if any code and when checking a green and pink plug was out of ecu. It has been said this is speed sensor but I cannot find a spot to plug into ecu. Wondering if anyone can help of where this goes. Thanks
