My brother just gave me a rear seat cowl for my F4I(he has same bike -2002).
The cowl has the attachment to hook up to the rear lock, but the front section has 2 metal spikes on each side. Am I supposed to take off the hooks from my stock seat and install it on the cowl? Thanks in advance.

 

Ask your brother what he did.

 

he never had it installed, his girlfriend rides with him all the time.

Post a picture of it, so we can see exactly what you have going on. Is it a Targa?

 

Sounds like a Targa cowl....so you'llneed two little brackets (that haverubberbushings in them)& bolts that attach to the subframe and then the "spikes" slide into those brackets & then the rear latch holds the cowl down

Best bet is to call up Targa to get the parts
